22nd October 2023 Let's Murder Marsha is over! We performed three great shows, really well attended by appreciative audiences. It was great to be back in Dollar Academy Studio Theatre for the first time since February 2020, and we had such fun with this production. Now it's time for a breather before we consider our next production.
19th-21st October 2023 Performance nights! Break a leg!
16th October 2023 It's our first dress rehearsal for Let's Murder Marsha! Our set is in place, our technical rehearsal is complete, our costumes are on, and it's almost show time. It's great to be back in Dollar Academy Studio Theatre.
30th September 2023 With less than three weeks to go before Let's Murder Marsha opens, things are hotting up. Rehearsals feel more intense, finishing touches are being made to costumes and props, and arrangements are being made for moving scenery.
12th September 2023 Annual General Meeting of Dollar Drama Club in the Captain's Room, Dollar Academy.
10th September 2023 Tickets are now available to reserve for Dollar Drama Club's autumn production, Let's Murder Marsha by Monk Ferris. This will be performed on 19th, 20th, 21st October 2023 in Dollar Academy Studio Theatre. To reserve tickets please email dollardrama@gmail.com saying how many tickets and which date. Tickets are £12 each, cash only please, payable at the door on the night.
12th May 2023 Dollar Drama Club are taking part in this year's Killin Komedy Festival.
1st April 2023 The club's Acting Workshop in the Hive.
9th March 2023 Dollar Drama Club has organised a free Acting Workshop on 1st April to allow club members to develop their skills, and members of the public to try their hand at acting. It's a fun event held in the Hive, lead by an SCDA instructor.
7th March 2023 Dollar Drama Club are pleased to announce that our next production will be the full-length comedy Let's Murder Marsha by Monk Ferris. This will be performed on 19th, 20th, 21st October 2023 in Dollar Academy Studio Theatre.
5th December 2022 Planes, Trains and... Submarines? is over! We had some last-minute problems with cast illnesses, but we managed to put on two great shows. Audiences said they enjoyed the variety, and we even had an attendance by the author of one of the plays (who said it was great). Thanks to all the cast and crew, and of course those of you who came to see the show.

2nd November 2022 With a month to go until our opening night, rehearsals are going well for Planes, Trains and... Submarines?. This will be a fun evening of comedy sketches and plays. We hope you can join us. Tickets cost £10 and are available to reserve by email.

19th August 2022 Unfortunately we have had to cancel our production of "The Secretary Bird" due to a combination of factors outside our control. More information will follow soon about an alternative production.
9th July 2022 We are delighted to announce our next production! "The Secretary Bird" is a comedy by William Douglas Home. This full-length play will be performed on the 13th, 14th and 15th October 2022 in Dollar Academy Studio Theatre. Rehearsals begin soon.
16th May 2022 Hide And Seek is complete, after two well-attended nights of excellent drama. The audiences seemed to appreciate the drama (and some humour) of the first play, and the full-on comedy of our second play. Everything went very well, and now it's time for a break before thinking about what play (or plays) to do next. Phew!

18th January 2022 Tonight is our first read-through of plays that we are considering for our next production. Details to follow once we have decided what to do.
5th December 2021 Starting Over is over! We played two nights in the Burnside Hall, Dollar, and it was so wonderful to be back on stage again after a long time away. It was really well attended too, and several of the audience said how nice it was to see live theatre in our little town again. Let's hope that the virus is controlled and we can do it again soon. We're already discussing next year.

6th September 2021 After a long time away from productions, tonight is the casting night for our next play! Watch this space for more information soon!
1st March 2021 The club has recorded a six-minute audio play "Short Break" which has been uploaded to YouTube for you to enjoy. It stars three club members and was written by a fourth club member. The actors were recorded separately during lockdown and the recordings were stitched together using audio editing software, and sound effects were added. We are quite pleased with the result! 25th April 2020 Like most clubs, we are restricted with what we can do during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are using the time to read plays together via video conference, with a view to selecting a play to rehearse and perform when things eventually return to normal. We are also experimenting with recording lines individually for a radio play, to be edited together.
16th February 2020 Travels With My Aunt is over! This was a memorable production, and very well attended with the theatre full on all three nights. We had so much positive feedback from the audience! Everyone had fun with this production, either from the great script, all the changes of character for the four actors, or from leaping around whilst barking and wearing floppy ears. Henry Pulling was on a journey, and so was everybody else! But now that it's over it's time for some well earned rest.

9th February 2020 With less than a week to go until Travels With My Aunt, we have moved into Dollar Academy's Studio Theatre for our final rehearsals.
30th October 2019 We are pleased to announce that Dollar Drama Club's next production will be Travels With My Aunt by Giles Havergal, adapted from the novel by Graham Greene. This will be performed on the 13th, 14th and 15th February 2020 in Dollar Academy's Studio Theatre. Rehearsals have already begun!
11th September 2019 We regret to announce that due to circumstances beyond our control we have had to cancel our production of "God Of Carnage" that was due to be performed in October 2019. We hope to be able to bring you this great play at some point in the future.
3rd August 2019 It's time for our summer barbecue! Will it be hot and sunny like last year, or as wet as 2016 when some guests borrowed clothing from the hosts while their wet clothing was in the tumble dryer? Either way there will be good food and good chat.
14th July 2019 We are delighted to announce that Dollar Drama Club's next production will be "God Of Carnage" by Yasmina Reza. This will be performed in Dollar Academy in October 2019.
12th May 2019 Happy Ever After is over! This was a varied production, with several readings and two one-act plays, that provided varied entertainment for the audience. We had great feedback from the crowd, and we had great fun too. But now that it's over, what will we do with ourselves? Start planning the next one, of course. Watch this space for details.

20th March 2019 Dollar Drama Club's next production will be a series of plays and readings titled Happy Ever After, which will be performed on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th May 2019 in the Burnside Hall, Dollar.

26th May 2018 We are delighted to announce that our next production will be "Pygmalion" by George Bernard Shaw, directed by Frances Lindsay.
15th April 2018 Forget-Me-Knot is over! What a hilarious play that was! It was very well attended (including two sell-outs), and we had great audiences who really seemed to enjoy it. We enjoyed it too, but now it's time for some well-earned rest.

9th April 2018 We had our first dress rehearsal for Forget-Me-Knot tonight in Dollar Academy Studio Theatre, and it went really well.
5th April 2018 It's only a week until the opening night of our spring production, the unforgettable comedy Forget-Me-Knot. Tomorrow we move scenery and props into the studio theatre, followed by a technical rehearsal on Saturday, dress rehearsals on Monday and Wednesday, and the real thing from Thursday to Saturday (12th-14th April). It's a busy time!

22nd October 2017 Curtain Up On Murder is over! We were really pleased with how full the audience was on all three nights, and how many positive comments we received afterwards. The cast had great fun with this play, and it's so nice to know that the audience did too. We now plan to have a few weeks off while we consider what to produce next.

16th October 2017 Our first dress rehearsal for Curtain Up On Murder! It's great to be rehearsing in the actual venue. Until now we have been rehearsing in Dollar Civic Centre, and it can be slightly off-putting to change venue like this, but that's part of the point of a dress rehearsal. We have another dress rehearsal on Wednesday, and then it's show time!
11th October 2017 With just over a week to go until the opening night of Curtain Up On Murder we are making final adjustments to costumes and music, collecting scenery, and looking forward to our first dress rehearsal. It's an exciting time!
24th July 2017 Rehearsals have started for our next play, Curtain Up On Murder.
9th July 2017 We are pleased to announce that our next play will be Curtain Up On Murder by Bettine Manktelow, directed by Elaine Stark. This is a full-length play that is a mystery/thriller, which will be performed on the 19th, 20th and 21st October 2017 in Dollar Academy Studio Theatre. We are excited to be starting something new, after a short break where we read lots of plays to help select this one.
14th May 2017 Mission To Planet Bob is now over! We had great fun with this production. They are always a lot of work, but worth it. Many thanks to everyone who helped, and thanks to the audience for attending in good numbers and laughing in all the right places. We had a lot of good feedback about the performances and also the food.

7th May 2017 We had fun last night at the Killin Komedy Festival with Mission To Planet Bob, and we had a lot of positive feedback from the audience. We are performing it again in Dollar on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th May.

13th March 2017 Rehearsals have started for our next play, Mission To Planet Bob. This comedy will be presented as a theatre dinner - a play plus an evening meal - on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th May 2017.
19th February 2017 The performances of Love's Labours Found are now over! It was a lot of work but we had great audiences and great fun. Many thanks to everybody who helped, either directly with the performances or in one of the many supporting roles, or even simply by letting us borrow their trailer to move scenery. We simply couldn't do it without all this help.

10th February 2017 We have started moving scenery and props into the Studio Theatre for our February production Love's Labours Found. There is just a week to go, and things are getting intensive with dress rehearsals and technical rehearsals still to come. There is a lot to do, but it's an exciting time!
7th December 2016 We are pleased to announce that our next production, Love's Labours Found, will consist of two one-act plays, a short sketch, and various readings. The plays are "A Betrothal" by Lanford Wilson, "Secretarial Skills" by Peter Quilter, and the sketch is "Love Is Blind" by Andrew Bawn. These will be performed in Dollar Academy Studio Theatre on Friday 17th and Saturday 18th February 2017. Click here for more details.
23rd October 2016 Our three performances of The Importance Of Being Earnest are now over! It was almost sold-out every night, which is wonderful, and we received lots of positive feedback from the audience afterwards which is always great to hear. The cast and crew have worked hard, but it has also been enormous fun. Huge thanks go to the director, Frances Lindsay, for being so committed and enthusiastic, giving praise and constructive criticism in rehearsals as needed, and giving so much of her time.

15th October 2016 Today we had our first dress rehearsal for The Importance Of Being Earnest. The set and the costumes look great, and it is nice to be rehearsing in the actual venue. A long, tiring but satisfying day. Photos from the dress rehearsal can be seen here.

27th September 2016 We are currently rehearsing for our October 2016 production, Oscar Wilde's classic play The Importance Of Being Earnest. Rehearsals are twice per week, and as well as learning our lines we are busy preparing costumes, designing the set, selecting props, considering lighting and music, publicising, printing tickets and programmes, taking ticket reservations, organising front-of-house, and all the other things that go into a production. It is a busy but exhilarating time, and we are excited to be presenting this very funny and clever play to you.
